Point 28_^shoot your film^

Point 28

In our film, we have manage to find serverl volunteers who participate as a actor in our film and it was quite a succssful filming section as many of them were followed our instruction and tried as good as poosible to become a reasonable quality as a actor.

We have so much fun during the filming section and actors were also provided many good advice about our film and filming processes.

Point 27_^Plan and collect all props and costumes^

Point 27 – Plan and collect all pros and costumes

As our film are mostly focus on the student at the school, therefore our costumes will be school uniform and one of the actor who act as a teacher may wear his own clothes.

Moreover, we would also use the up make skill to create the ghost appearance and  the ghost image to show to audience which is one the most important of our thriller story.

Point 26_^Reason for casting actors^

Point 26 – Cast your film and taking location shots. Blog your reasons for casting who you have

Below are the actors that we worked with for our short film:

Crystal Cao act as a secondary school but live with “special observation”. We choose Crystal Cao to act this character, because she look like a good girl who would keen on remain the justice in the society such as school environment.

Eric Xie act as a normal student in part of the classmates crew study at the school 50 years before Crystal Cao at the story. We choose Eric Xie to act this character, because we think he could fit with the character that is natural and realistic.

Jeff Chen act as a normal student in part of the classmates crew study at the school 50 years before Crystal Cao at the story. We choose Jeff Chen to act this character, because we think he could fit with the character that is natural and realistic.

May Bai act as a the girl who jealous the beautiful in the class, we choose her because her appearance and face’s expression is serious enough act this kind of character.

Point 25_^A risk assesment^

Our Risk Assessment

Location: Gordonstoun House

Risk
Action carried out
How this can be prevented
Falling into the lake
                -
Film away from the waters’ edge.

Location: EAL Classroom

Risk
Action carried out
How this can be prevented
There would be many tables and chair and we need to going around during which may cause injuries by run into the furniture.
Let it be and film carefully.
Tidy up the tables and chair to avoid people run into the furniture.

Location: EAL department’s toilet

Risk
Action carried out
How this can be prevented
As people may break the toilet facility accidentally, such as toilet handle and it may injuries the actors as well.
Let it be as part of the special element of our short film and film carefully.
Be gentle and avoid to touch the toilet’s facility too hard.

Point 24_^Location and location shots^

Point 24 Plan locations and take location shots. Blog your reasons for choosing these locations Seek permission to use the locations.

For filming our film, we have decided that we would film in server places in the school which are EAL classrooms, toilet inside EAL department and the South Lawn

Below is our plan:

Location 1: Gordonstoun House

Camera shots: Long shot

Using long-shot to film one the most important building called “Gordonstoun House” as the icon and stereotype of the school that we would put this shot at the very beginning of the our short film.

Location 2: EAL(P7)

Camera shots: Long Shot, Mid-Shot, Point of view

We would use long-shot to roughly film the whole view of all the student and the teacher at that classroom and mid-shot to show to the audience more clear of the student’s and teacher’s appearance.

Also, we will use the point of view to show the natural view from one of the actor observation that the process she saw the ghost.

Location 3: Toilet (In the Gordonstoun House)

Camera shots: Mid-shot, Point of view

This is only the possible situation but it is not very likely to get film because we don’t want to show all the narrative to the audience in first 2 minutes of a 75 minute or possible 120 minutes’ film, which is the beautiful girl who got bully by the girl who jealous and hurt her, at that moment, we would use mid-shot to represent the narrative. Moreover, we will using the point of view to represent how the jealous hurt the beautiful

Location 4: The South Lawn(outside Gordonstoun House)

Camera shots: Mid-shot, Long shot

We are going to using long-shot and mid-shot to show to the audience that the students were very happily study at the school 50 years after the accident happened.

Point 20_^Created a stoy board^

This is our lovely storyboard. Hope you would enjoy it.

Point 23_^Create a shot list and shooting Script^

Create a shot list and shooting script

The first picture: Long/Mid-shot

It is the school main building, the iconic place for school, therefore I think we would use either long shot or mid shot to make the audience get straight away that this story is going to relate with school and students.

The second picture: Focus pull/close-up, mid-shot

As this is a classroom and people would stay in a relatively small indoor area rather than outdoor environment, therefore we could use either close-up or focus pull to show the beauty of that girl and use mid-shot to film the classmates and the girls who are jealous her.

The third picture: Mid-shot

It would be a typical film shot that the story plot was few people do something in a small place such as bully a girl in the toilet but it should works significantly well.

The fourth picture: Mid-shot and subjective shot

When the jealous girls force the beautiful girl go to the toilet and the girls were about to do something nasty to her, this part of the scene could be mid-shot. And when the beautiful girl get hurt by the sulphuric acid, it can be subjective shot as this may built up a realistic scene to everyone.

The fifth picture: Close-up

Certainly to build up a scary and bad situation of something, we could use close-up as a “over acting” skill in a filming method, such as close-up to a burnt face of a girl.

The sixth picture and seventh: Mid-shot

Again, the kind of scene could sort by some typical shot such as is mid-shot and this can make a position where the audience can enjoy to watch, because this is easy to understand and popular though out everyday media.

The eighth picture: eye-line match and low-angle

Firstly, use eye-line match to let audience feel that they are also at some state as the girl who is about to hanging. Afterward use low-angle to make a suspense media contact when the girl dead by killing herself.

The ninth picture: Long/Mid-shot

This could be same as the first picture as this is just the same building and in fact, it just pretend to be 50 years ago at the film. (It is the school main building, the iconic place for school, therefore I think we would use either long shot or mid shot to make the audience get straight away that this story is going to relate with school and students.)

The tenth picture: mid-shot and subjective shot

Mid-shot for the girls who got scar by the ghost.

Subjective shot for the ghost.

The eleventh shot: mid-shot and close-up and subjective shot

Mid-shot and close-up for the girl who got the super natural that she could see the ghost and when she is looking at the ghost, we could use subjective shot.

The twelfth shot: no a specific image, it just make eleventh picture more clear.

The thirteenth shot: “Shot, reverse shot”, from mid-shot to long-shot

It is actually the first scene at our actual two minutes film. We can use “shot, reverse shot” at the scene that they were looking at each other eyes. And then finish off by filming them standing at the classroom, one at the left and one at the right, from mid-shot to long-shot hence a suspense feel or at least attack the audience want to keep watching it.

Point 19_^Investigate narrative theories^

In our first two minutes’ film, we are going to the theory called “Tzvetan Todorov’s theory”, we would use a simple recurring formula which is start with “equilibrium”, then over “disequilibrium” and finish off by “new equilibrium”. Of my understanding of such term called “equilibrium”, from what I found from the translation. It mean balance and its opposition meaning should be unbalance.

Surprisingly, our film is totally suitable for this formula of the theory. On the other hand, we will make our film in a method called “flashback” that will present the formula structure in a slightly different order.

At the beginning, we will put the last attractive scene which is the ghost is about to have a big war with the main actress.

And then, it will go back to the beginning of the storyline which is 50 years ago, before the girl became ghost.

After that, the main actress will appear after 50 years in the story to catch up the beginning scene.

However, it is impossible to finish the whole story in two minutes unless we do it really briefly. Therefore, we would definitely film the last attractive scene and show a bit of the story that the girl before she became the bad ghost.

Point 22_^Create an animatic of our story board^
